Reaching the townships
Our Maktabs Department
Alhamdulillah, by the mercy and grace of Allah (swt), Darul Uloom Heidelberg runs sixteen maktab centres under the close guidance of the madrassah, mostly in the townships. Most are in the greater East Rand within roughly 30–50 km of the Darul Uloom, and four are in neighbouring African countries.

What a maktab does
Qur'an reading for children
Children learn to read the Qur'an correctly, with tajweed, in their own neighbourhood.
Basic Islamic teachings
Salaah, wudhu, duas and the beliefs of Islam, taught simply and with care.
Adult education
Classes for adults who wish to learn or strengthen the foundations of their deen.
